Bao Tea House's Owner Runs A Hypebeast Fashion Line

Running a clothing line is on many levels similar to running a food business. When developing the menu, we need to develop food that satisfies different groups' needs, such as vegan, dairy-free, nut-free, etc. Whereas in the fashion industry, I simply show my aesthetic through clothing, and people who share the same aesthetic can appreciate the pieces.

THE RICE BAO CANDLE

When we began BÀO Tea House, we came in determined to fix the problem that was the lack of access to bao and tea in New York City. Since then, we have continuously grown and are constantly working towards our goal of making quality bao just as ubiquitous as the French croissant and the New York bagel. We are privileged to serve you and stand by our commitment to provide quality bao and tea to our valued customers.

Biltmore Los Angeles

Online ordering is available for those wishing to skip the line, but for everyone else, grab a clipboard with the menu and mark the items desired. Pasadena’s understated Callisto Tea House serves two options for afternoon tea service on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. The standard menu is priced at $27.50 and includes three savory vegan toasts, a scone with cream and jam, a cupcake, and a pot of tea.

Longo Seafood Restaurant

The Liu family in Monterey Park serves some of the best Taiwanese breakfast in LA. Order a deep-fried cruller and dip it in a bowl of steaming soy milk. Pine & Crane founder Vivian Ku’s sophomore effort serves Taiwan’s greatest hits including spicy shrimp wontons, dan dan noodles, and minced pork over rice. Wash it all down with a plethora of scratch-made milk tea drinks. And be sure to save room for the hakka mochi for dessert. Opened in 1993, 888 Seafood seats up to 800 people and is one of the last Cantonese restaurants of its size to weather the pandemic.

This “soul food” spot from chef David Kuo brings together Taiwanese classics and Chinese-American staples. Open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery daily with cocktails provided by Kuo’s Accomplice Bar. An offshoot of the Half and Half chain of boba shops, Half and Half Good Old Time serves Taiwanese cafe comforts, drinks, and desserts. All drinks are made with crushed ice and honey boba, and priced under $4. Come into Arcadia’s beloved SinBala for a taste of Taiwanese street food. The sweetish sausages come topped with slivers of raw garlic, Sichuan peppercorns, and even mangoes.

Fairmont Miramar - Hotel & Bungalows

Not many dim sum restaurants make dishes in-house these days — most serve frozen wares reheated for service. But that’s not the case at Tang Gong, which is home to the best crispy baked barbecue buns. Another unique item is the purple yam salted egg yolk balls — the exterior tastes like a crispy, hot mochi ball, while the inside oozes out steaming salty egg yolk. Other notable dishes include spicy fried garlic shrimp dumplings and crispy red rice noodle rolls. Dim sum variety during the pandemic is not as vast as it used to be, but the restaurant has been slowly trying to offer more items. Although dim sum is typically a breakfast or brunch meal, Lunasia serves it from morning until night.

Ixlb Dim Sum Eats

Dan Modern Chinese opened its first Pasadena shop in 2018 to serve handmade dumplings like xiao long bao. There are now seven locations dotted throughout the Southland in West LA, Playa Vista, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, and Woodland Hills. Though best known for its beef rolls, 101 Noodle Express also makes memorable thick-skinned potstickers filled with pork and a piping-hot stock. The dumplings travel and reheat well at home, just be careful of the innards splattering at first bite. In addition to an order Mian’s exceedingly spicy Sichuan-style noodles, add on a serving of the boiled chao shou dumplings. The herby chile oil with a healthy punch of ma la takes the already-solid wontons to the next level.

The restaurant is among a select few left in Los Angeles that still uses push carts. Atlantic Seafood also sells a number of its dim sum frozen for takeout. For great dim sum without the wait, head to Grand Harbour in Temple City.

Menu highlights include rice noodles, baked barbecue buns, shrimp dumplings, deep-fried sesame balls with red bean paste, egg tarts, and shu mai. For convenience, the restaurant accepts Apple Pay in addition to online orders.

The tea room is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m.

Though the ramen and noodle soups are excellent at this Monterey Park establishment, it’s the hot oil pork and shrimp dumplings that appear on every table, along with the shrimp and leek variety. The menu at Bao Bao House is full of unique and flavorful chinese dishes, from classic favorites to more adventurous options. No matter what you are in the mood for, you won't be disappointed Check us out whenever you are in the Eugene area.

The hip, to-go-only establishment has a wall lined with iPads for contactless ordering and also offers online ordering and curbside pick-up. There are a number of Capital Seafood locations spread throughout Los Angeles and Orange County — each one with a different vibe, menu, and price. Capital Seafood Monterey Park is the most affordable and still employs push carts. Capital Seafood Arcadia ranks as the supreme location with an upscale cart-less experience with favorites like spinach dumplings, mini egg tarts, and roast duck. And Capital Seafood Irvine is the most over-priced but carries typical dim sum like har gow, siu mai, and a variety of buns. Bistro 1968 serves plenty of classic dim sum fare like barbecue buns, spare ribs, rice rolls, and egg tarts.
